Description

An embossed woodblock print by Japanese artist Haku Maki (1924-2000). Titled Figure-2, the background of the print is black in color with a red kanji-inspired shape. The work is displayed in a white frame behind a black mat and is signed, titled and numbered to the lower edge. Numbered 16/50. Woodblock print, 21.5" x 13.5" sight. Framed 30" x 21". Haku Maki was a prolific Japanese artist of the 20th century. His birth name was Maejima Tadaaki but he selected the name Haku Maki in the late 1950s to go by. Many museums have Maki's work in their collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Portland Art Museum, Cincinnati Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Art Museum.
